Edwin Scott Connine was born on January 27, 1946 to Edwin and Viola (Ohrenberger) Connine in Traverse City, Michigan, where Scott was raised. At the age of seven he began piano lessons. Scott became an accomplished pianist, entertaining many friends with his musical talent. While in high school, Scott played on the tennis, basketball and football teams. He attended one year of college at Western Michigan. In 1968, he attended Spartan of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and then went on to Aviation Training Enterprises in Chicago, Illinois. Scott obtained his commercial pilots, multi-engine, and flight instructor licenses. In 1968, he married Susan Lyon and the couple moved to Lansing, Michigan. From 1969 until 1977 Scott served with the Lansing Police and Sheriff’s Departments and also worked as a flight instructor at Michigan State University. During this time, the couple had two daughters, Tara, born in 1969, and Mischa, born in 1974.
Scott and his family moved to White Salmon in 1977. While here, he worked with the Youth Camp, Klickitat County Sheriff’s Department and the Hood River Toll Bridge. After Scott and Sue divorced in 1981, he moved back to Lansing. On March 16, 1985, he married Anne Everett. From 1981 through 1999, Scott worked for General Motors in plant security and payroll accounting. He then drove busses for Capital Area Transportation Authority.
In December of 2000, Scott was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. He died on December 12, 2004 in Haslett, Michigan. Survivors include his wife, Anne, at home in Michigan; daughters Tara Connine of Lincoln City, Oregon and Mischa Connine of Pinnacle National Monument, California; and brother Ron Connine of Husum.
